DIY face mask
If you ask any swinging single or DINK female friend of yours to tell you how much money she spends on beauty products annually, you’ll probably be astounded! For many mums (and yes, dads too) who are struggling to keep tabs on the family’s finances, such luxuries are probably the first ones that are axed. However, a limited budget should not be a reason for you to skip out on the care and pampering that your skin definitely deserves.
Concocting your very own beauty product is actually a great way to find simple pleasures of taking care of your skin. The great thing is most of the effective beauty ingredients can be easily found in the kitchen and garden. So its time to open up those cupboards and get busy creating quick and fuss-free beauty fixes.
Masks For Preggy Mummys
Stir one egg yolk, a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of almond oil and vitamin E in a clean bowl, until you achieve a smooth consistency. Spread the mixture all over your face and neck using fingertips. Leave the mask for at least 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water and pat dry.
Mask for Normal Skin
Mix half a cup of cooked oatmeal and one egg white, along with a teaspoon of olive oil and several drops of lemon extract. Spread the mixture generously on your face and neck and leave it for at least 15-30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. The lemon juice will help reduce black heads while the egg white can help tighten the skin pores.
Mask for Oily Skin
Mix one small unripe tomato and 1 teaspoon honey in a blender till you get a thick pulp. Cleanse and exfoliate your face to ensure pores are open. Using two fingers, gently massage the pulp onto your face. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then rinse off with cold water. You can keep the leftovers in a small airtight container in the fridge. The main ingredient of this mask is tomato, which acts like an astringent to tighten pores and remove excess oil, while the honey is a natural moisturizer that softens the skin.
Mask for Dry Skin
Use dry oatmeal, 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon plain yogurt to make a paste. Spread it all over the face and neck, and leave for no longer than 30 minutes. Once the mask is dry, proceed to rinse with lukewarm water. If your skin feels extra dry, you can add just a little more olive oil to the mixture.
Mask for Sensitive Skin
Mash ¼ riped avocado and ½ riped banana. Mix with 2 tablespoon plain yogurt and 1 tsp wheatgerm oil. Apply to face. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water.
Exfoliation Mask
Mash together 1 tablespoon each of papaya, pumpkin, and plain yogurt; smooth on your face and let it sit for five minutes. Enzymes in the fruit and yogurt will help slough off dead skin.
