8 Ways to vacation with the kids and grandparents

8 Ways to vacation with the kids and grandparents

Filipinos are no stranger to family togetherness, from living arrangements to taking trips together, but it doesn’t mean that it’s a walk in the park. Make your vacation a great experience for the entire family with these easy to do tips.

The long-awaited Ber months has finally come! It’s time to think about the perfect family vacation, and that includes considering a family trip with grandparents. Traveling with seniors can require a bit more planning, but the joy of having the whole family together makes it all worthwhile.

Plan and block the dates ahead of time.

Spontaneous vacations can be tough, especially with kids and seniors in tow. Planning ahead eases stress and suits everyone’s needs, giving seniors a predictable schedule and helping you juggle work and school commitments. Early organization ensures a smoother, more enjoyable trip for all.

Choose a destination for all ages.

Choosing a vacation spot that caters to everyone’s tastes can be tricky. Aim for destinations that offer a blend of activities, from sun-soaked beaches to cozy staycations. Look for places where adventure and relaxation coexist, ensuring every family member has something to enjoy.

Don’t miss out on PAL’s Ultimate Seat Sale, offering exceptional value for your holiday travels. Whether you’re reuniting with loved ones, heading home, or setting off on a family adventure, these limited-time fares are designed to make your trip memorable and budget-friendly. Book now to take advantage of these exclusive rates.

Booking Period: August 30 to September 20, 2024
Immediate Travel: September 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025
Future Travel: On/After February 1, 2025

Take out the element of the unknown, as much as possible, with a clear itinerary.

There’s peace of mind that comes with knowing what happens next. Have a clear itinerary for your whole vacation. Even if some points might fall away or it won’t be followed to a T, having a schedule lessens your need to worry if you’re missing out on something, or thinking of a way to entertain everyone when they complain that they’re bored.

Pack familiar comforts from home.

Bringing along familiar items can make the trip more comfortable for everyone. For example, ensure you have any necessary medications and comfort items, such as grandparents’ shawl or children’s favorite snacks. Familiar items can ease the transition and make everyone feel more at home.

Invest in quality accommodations.

Nothing ruins a vacation faster than a sub-standard room, especially for grandparents who need more restful times in between activities. Make sure to inspect beds and bathrooms for cleanliness and comfort, and don’t hesitate to ask for a room change if it’s not up to your liking.

Embrace the moment and let the complaints slide.

Even the most detailed and magical vacation will get less than stellar comments, from your kids complaining that the sand is not “white enough”, to the grandparents complaining about the less than fluffy pillows. If the complaints are things that you can’t do anything about (like really, the sand will stay the same forever), just smile, say you’ll choose a better spot next time, and let it go. There’s no use obsessing over something you can’t change as of the moment.

Vacation with kids and grandparents

Allow for individual time.

Not all kids will be patient enough to walk around a museum aimlessly, and perhaps you and your partner would like to take some drinks during happy hour. Not all experiences are PG, and you shouldn’t feel guilty about that.

Set a comfortable pace for both kids and seniors.

Tailor the pace of your activities to the needs of your slowest member. Whether it’s adjusting for a stroller or considering the mobility needs of grandparents, ensure that everyone can comfortably keep up. Avoid strenuous activities that might cause undue stress.

Experience the joy of travel with PAL’s Ultimate Seat Sale. Enjoy exceptional fares on your next trip, whether you’re reconnecting with family, heading home, or setting off on a new adventure. Book between August 30 and September 20, 2024, for travel from September 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025, or later from February 1, 2025. Make the most of every moment. Start planning your next getaway today.
