The latest fad to take note of is healthy smoothies for pregnancy. Fruit and vegetable smoothies are recommended by doctors and manage to offer a well-rounded diet focusing on providing the necessary vitamins and minerals.

It can be an entire meal plan on its own if you add the right ingredients keeping your blood sugar, digestion and energy levels in check.

Keeping up with the times, it’s worth trying out the newest smoothie that everyone is talking about. Indian pilates trainer Radhika Karle recently shared the ‘Green Goddess Smoothie’ on her Instagram that promises a quick, easy and power-packed recipe for pregnant women.

Karle says the smoothie brings a number of green veggies including fresh baby spinach that is rich in iron, pineapple that brings vitamin C, and good fats from avocado that makes it an essential addition to an expecting mum’s diet.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup – baby spinach, chopped
  • 4 – Pineapple slices, chopped
  • 1/4 – Avocado
  • 1/2 cup – Water

Method

Blend all the ingredients together in the cold-pressed juicer. Filter it in a tall glass and drink right away.

This smoothie helps pregnant women with nausea thanks to its high content of citrus fruits that bring a lovely taste and tangy aroma. Here’s how you make it.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries, frozen
  • Mango, frozen
  • Banana, frozen
  • Broccoli
  • Peeled lime
  • Peeled and deseeded orange
  • Broccoli
  • Coconut water
  • Coconut milk

Method

Add coconut water and coconut milk to a blender. Follow it up with lime, oranges and broccoli. Run the blender till all ingredients are smooth.

Then add all the frozen fruits and blend once again till the consistency is right. Pour the smoothie in a tall glass and enjoy.
