As a mother, we want our children to grow mentally and physically healthy. Thanks to our Modern Technology today, we can easily read some tips for raising our child. These tips are based on my own experience. I’m glad that I have raised my little girl to be responsible.

My child is turning 6 years old this September. And while I’m breastfeeding my 1-year-old, she comes to me and said, “Mommy, magsasaing ako.” And that’s the time I realized that she’s not my baby anymore. She does not need me to tell her what to do. So what practice did I do to achieve these?

During the pandemic, she was just 4-5 years old at that time. I always make sure that I would give her a task to make her busy aside from playing. She loves to play with her toys and can already read and spell.

First, I taught her how to cook rice and assisted her. She usually did this at around 4pm. That was our routine.

As time went by, I didn’t have to assist her anymore.

This was also what happened when I taught her how to wash the dishes. I gave her plastic plates and utensils to practice on. Eventually, she learned how to do it on her own. She now washes her plate and her sibling’s plate.

Now that she knows these chores, she is teaching her friends and cousins how to do them too.

One important tip is to stick to the routine. We should give them time and trust them.

I always ask her, “Do you like washing your plate and cooking rice?” And she would always answer yes.

As I observed, they love doing tasks that are usually done by adults. It helps them build confidence and at the same time, they are learning new life skills.
