How to Apply Eyeliner

How to Apply Eyeliner

Eyeliner can make even the smallest eyes appear bigger. However, applying it incorrectly can make your eyes look harsh or you risk looking overdone. To avoid such mistakes, follow our guide.

How to Apply Eyeliner

Eyeliner can make even the smallest eyes appear bigger. However, applying it incorrectly can make your eyes look harsh or you risk looking overdone. To avoid such mistakes, follow our guide….

Pencil

1. If you choose to use an eyeline pencil, you should first test it on your hand or arm. The pencil should be able to draw a thin, unbroken line along your skin. If the line is too thick, then sharpen the pencil until the line is thin enough, or if it is too thin, wipe the tip with a tissue, which will make it a little blunt.

2.Hold the eyeliner pencil as you would hold a pen to write with. Use your other hand to pull your lid taut.

3. Don’t try to focus on your whole eye lid at one time – just look at the part you are drawing on. If you have shaky hands don’t draw the line in one stroke, instead try breaking it up into smaller strokes. You can easily increase the thickness of the line after the initial drawing.

4. The line should be just above your eye lashes on the top lid and just below on the bottom, and should extend to the outer corner of your eye.

5. Be wary if your eyeliner pencil tip is dry, as this may pull at delicate eye tissue. Draw the line with care if this is the case.

Liquid

1. It is natural to close your eye as you draw the line, but if you keep it open, it will make it a whole load easier to follow the curve of your lid and thus have a straighter line.

2. You do not need to try and paint a continuous line with liquid eyeliner. It is actually easier to pain a few small dashes onto the lash line, eg. Inner corner, middle and outer corner, then go back and connect them.

3. If you want a thicker line than your initial one, build it up gradually. Start at the middle of the lash line and draw towards the outer corner. For a more pronounced look, you can extend the line slightly past the outer corner of your eyelid.

4. Use a q-tip to fix mistakes or smudges.
