Despite the hectic and controversial world of showbiz, Ian Veneracion and his wife Pam are happier than ever, after nearly 20 years together. They tied the knot in October 1997 and now have three kids: Draco, 17, Deirdre, 15, and Buccio, 9. What’s their secret? Ian let his fans in on some sage advice during a recent guesting on Net 25’s Moments, a lifestyle show hosted by actress and mom of four Gladys Reyes.
“Huwag makipagdebate sa asawa,” he said with a laugh, when asked about what marriage has taught him.
Continuing, he emphasized, “At ‘pag galit siya, tumahimik ka na lang. Wala kang panalo.”

Rarely does he open up to the public about his family life, which often leads gossip publications and tabloids to speculate about whether or not he truly is happily married.
In a recent interview with PEP, he was asked if being paired up with some of the most gorgeous actresses has ever caused jealousy or conflict between him and Pam.
“Malaki ang tiwala niya sa akin,” says Ian, adding that it’s never been an issue, “Sabi niya sa akin, ‘Bahala ka, malaki ka na. I trust your judgment.’ Alam naman niya nasa akin na yun, kahit walang tukso, kung gagawa ako ng paraan. Kilala naman niya ako.”
He does confess, however, that he still finds other women attractive. “Alam naman ‘yan ng asawa ko,” he admits. “Alam naman lahat ng asawa ko na I appreciate…As an artist, as a painter, as an actor, I appreciate beauty. Siyempre nakaka-appreciate ako ng beauty, kahit sino namang may asawa. The fact na nag-asawa ka, ibig sabihin nun ay naa-appreciate mo ang female beauty.”
Now that they’re just a few years away from marking their silver anniversary, Ian is looking forward more than ever to forever with his lovely wife.
“Wish ko siyempre forever na… sana hanggang sa mamatay na,” he said. “Yun naman ang wish ng kahit sinong mag-asawa, di ba?”
