19-year-old actress Janella Salvador on feud with mom: "Everything is going to be okay. She's still my mom"

19-year-old actress Janella Salvador on feud with mom: "Everything is going to be okay. She's still my mom"

The 19-year-old actress believes, despite the alleged animosity between her and mom Jenine Desiderio, that things will turn out fine in the end

Following the news of an alleged ongoing feud between her and her mom, actress/singer Jenine Desiderio, Janella Salvador has spoken up.

It will be recalled that Jenine posted a series of cryptic tweets back in July, which many believed referred to her daughter Janella. In her tweets, she seemed to be upset, lecturing Janella about being stubborn.

“Napakahirap bang magpaalam? 2 simple, basic rules hindi masunod. Kase ayaw sumunod. #nuknukanngtigasngulo #angtigasngloob,” wrote the former star of Miss Saigon, to which netizens agreed, saying that a daughter who really loves her mom won’t disobey her.

In response to bashers who criticized her for airing their dirty laundry, Jenine wrote: “Being protective is instinctive with any mother. But if all your good intentions and protective efforts are prevented…You’re on your own.”

Months later, Janella responded to her mom’s twitter tirade, she told Push.com in an interview: “Siyempre lahat naman tayo nagulat and I’d rather not make a statement about it kasi I don’t want to make this thing bigger kasi I believe naman malapit na naman maging okay.”

(Of course we were all surprised and I’d rather not make a statement about it because I don’t want to make things bigger. Because I believe that it will all soon be okay.)

“I don’t want to make this thing bigger kasi I believe naman malapit na naman maging okay.”

Though the 19-year-old chose not to respond to rumors that she had moved out of their house, she expressed the hope that all will be well soon: “In God’s time, maaayos siya.” (In God’s time, it will all be sorted out.)

She also took to twitter to call out a ‘mystery guy’ being linked to her daughter. Naturally, fans assumed the tweets were addressed to Elmo Magalona, whose been constantly paired with her daughter in various projects.

“Hindi naman sa ayaw. I think ang problem lang talaga is mothers are really protective when it comes to their children so kung sinuman lumapit diyan, talagang gusto nila i-make sure na worthy and all,” explained Janella, adding that Jenine is simply doing her duties as a mom. She also went on to emphasize that this momentary misunderstandings are natural for mothers and daughters.

(It’s not she doesn’t like him. I think the problem simply is that mothers are really protective when it comes to their children so whoever tries to get close to them, they really want to make sure they’re worthy and all.)

“Eventually, I believe everything is going to be okay,” she went on, “(because) in the end, she’s still my mom.”

We really hope this talented mother-daughter duo patches things up soon! Do you find yourself in a similar situation? Here’s a few tips that might help!

1. Remember: You’re the grown-up

Be a mentor and guide your kid with compassion. Be firm, but loving. For your teen to grow into a well-rounded and independent adult, she needs a mom who will serve as a moral compass

2. Listen more

Let your teen speak their mind, don’t interrupt them or patronize them. Respect that they’re growing into an adult with opinions of their own. Listening to them will encourage them to do the same.

3. Stay calm despite changes

Take a break when you’re upset. Remember that changes are a part of your relationship with your teen. Keep your cool as you adapt and be the parent she needs.

4. Set firm boundaries

Impose limits, but be reasonable. Teens need their space, but they also need to feel secure that you’ll be there to back them up and cheer them on through life’s challenges.

5. Don’t be too serious

A good sense of humor goes a long way! Learn to joke around and lighten the mood. Teens often go through stressful periods of self-doubt; learning to laugh at themselves and at life’s difficulties will be truly helpful.

6. Be fair and honest

Be clear with your expectations. Own up to your mistakes, and be generous with your compliments. This will reinforce maturity in them, knowing that you’re secure enough to admit you’re human, too. Celebrating what they did right is just as important as correcting bad behavior in raising them right.

7. Practice what you preach

Above all, “walk the talk.” Teens are observant and intuitive. Don’t just simply tell them to adopt good behavior, live it!
