After news broke that Zsa Zsa Padilla’s engagement with architect Conrad Onglao had been called off, rumors started to surface as to the real reason why they called it quits.
One of the most recurring of which was that Conrad had become abusive and so Zsa Zsa decided to leave him.
The “Divine Diva’s” brief hiatus from showbiz only fueled speculation. But her daughter, Singer/TV Host Karylle reveals that these rumors are completely untrue.

In a recent interview with PEP, the 35-year-old singer/host clarified that her mom didn’t suffer any form of abuse at the hands of her former fiancé.
“No, no, that’s not true,” she emphasized. Adding that because certain people insinuated that there was abuse, she’s quick to clarify that all of the news are completely untrue.

As for how Karylle helped her mom, who had her when she was only 17 years old, she shares that she banned her from using her social media accounts so she wouldn’t see any negative comments.
Thankfully, there weren’t a lot.
“Mabait naman yung mga tao, actually (People have been nice, actually)” said Karylle. “Very prayerful and supportive, so I’m thankful din.”

In a report by the Philippine Star back in May 2016, entertainment journalist Ricky Lo wrote that he had found out from a reliable source what the real reason behind their break up was.
Prior to his relationship with Zsa zsa, Conrad, 60, had been married for 16 years to Ivy Almario, with whom he has two sons.
In certain social circles, Conrad had apparently gained the reputation of being some sort of a “ladies man with a bad temper”—the veracity of these claims cannot be confirmed. Zsa Zsa herself has said nothing of the issue.

“Maybe she got fed up with Conrad’s attitude, especially towards showbiz people whom he looked down on,” claimed the Philippine Star’s source. “It hurts like Conrad spoke. You know how sensitive it is Zsa Zsa. Trained with Dolphy who was very gentle. ”
But Ricky Lo’s sources expressed their dismay that things didn’t work out.
“I really thought that they would end happily ever after together,” said a source. “I thought that he has found his ‘forever.’ ”
Right after the news broke back in May, Karylle urged the public to give her mom some space. “The engagement has been called off so ako na lang ang magsasabi noon para hindi na din masakit siguro. Kasi ang hirap naman kung manggagaling pa kay mama,” she said in a previous interview with ABS-CBN. “Ang nire-request ko lang kung pwede I ask for prayers and also just time to heal for her. Siyempre Mother’s Day naman ngayon at birthday pa niya, so please.”
