Look: Twins born holding hands are closer than ever

Two years ago, these twin sisters were born holding hands. Today, they're even closer! Learn more about their unique bond here!

They say that one of the strongest bonds on earth is the bond shared between twins. Even though the strength of that bond is well documented and well known, no one knew just how strong the bond shared by twin sisters Jenna and Jillian would be.

These adorable twins were born, to the surprise of the their parents and the delivery team, holding hands! Not only that, but they refused to relinquish their grip.

It’s been roughly two years since their amazing birth story was shared across media platforms, and since displaying the strength of their relationship since their very first breaths, they’ve only grown closer.

Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite, now toddlers living in Ohio (USA), are the shining example of just how close twins really are. In fact, they’ve been close ever since gestation. The sisters are monoamniatic or “mono mono” twins; meaning they shared the same amniotic sac. After “rooming” together for 33 weeks within their mother’s belly, the two were born on May 9th, 2014.

They were born only 48 seconds apart through a C-section birth. Doctors claim when the two were brought within reaching distance of each other, they joined hands, and wouldn’t let go.

Their mother, Sarah Thistlethwaite, recollects on their birth with TODAY. “I heard Dr. Wolfe say, ‘Oh my gosh, they’re holding hands,’ and then Dr. Manacuso was like, ‘Hold them up so mum can see them’,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe they were holding hands. That was amazing. It was beautiful,” she added.

Their relationship hasn’t changed much according to their mother. In fact, she says that whenever one of the sisters leaves the room, crying ensues!

“Honestly, splitting them up, or doing anything with those two separately will make them cry. They don’t want to be away from each other. They need each other, they’re there for each other and they’ve got such an attachment,” Sarah explained.

The two sisters aren’t the only offsprings in the family. They also have an older brother named Jaxon. He may not have quite as tight of a relationship as the girls do, but they love one another all the same! The two live a happy, healthy life with no health complications holding straining them.

These two adorable twinsies are the best example of how close twins are. From birth, now , and long into the future, these sisters will continue to display the strength associated with twins and their bond.

Here’s to hoping they share more adorable pictures of their relationship in the near future!
