After he helped Barangay Ginebra San Miguel win the Governor’s Cup, Mark Caguioa got down on one knee to pop the question to Lauren Hudson, his girlfriend of 12 years.
“We’ve been together for twelve years and I think it’s the right time,” the 36-year-old cager told Spin.ph. “And this was the right time.”
“Siya yung nagpapalakas sa akin,” he said of his Filipino-Australian partner. “And I want to thank her that she’s been there through the ups and downs. And I want to tell her that I love her.”
Two days before he got down on one knee, however, Mark already hinted at his plans to ask Lauren–or Elle, for short–to marry him.

Though they don’t have kids yet, the sweet basketball star likes referring to Elle as his “Baby Mama”.
“Im not even gonna talk about how beautiful (you) are,” wrote Mark in his birthday tribute post for Elle last year. “But (you) are the most caring person on earth. It’s annoying sometimes (hahaha). For example, that one time when u didnt want me to kill that spider I was like ‘wtf its a spider!’ so she told me to put it somewhere safe; so me being caring and a good listener I threw it out the balcony (hahaha). Kidding aside, just (want to) say I love you and stay beautiful inside.”
The two started dating in 2004 and are both dog lovers. They are proud “parents” to adorable French Bulldogs. They even created a separate Instagram for their beloved Chuck the Champ.
