Though some of these couples didn't really live happily ever after, we can take comfort in the fact that, once upon a time, they had a happy beginning!

Let's take a look back on the most romantic marriage proposals!

Seal and Heidi Klum

Quite possibly the most memorable (and elaborate) proposal was that of singer Seal's in 2004.

"I proposed at 14,000 feet in Whistler, British Columbia, in uncharted terrain on a glacier, in a natural snow cave, in an igloo built just for the moment,” he recounts.

Sadly, the couple divorced after 10 years of marriage.

Pink and Corey Hart

Never one to do things the conventional way, the pop star proposed to motocross racer Carey Hart.

As he rode his bike around the track, Pink held up a sign that said: 'Will You Marry Me?'

When he didn't stop riding his bike, she flipped the sign to the other side, which read: 'I'm serious'.

He quit the race and ran over to her and said 'Yes!'

They'll be celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary this 2016.

This low-key couple managed to keep their engagement a secret until their friend, rapper T-Pain, revealed it in an interview as part of an April Fool's day prank.

A source told HollywoodLife.com that Robert Pattinson popped the question a few days before Valentine's day 2016 while they were alone and prefers to keep the details under wraps.

This makes it even more romantic especially in a place like Hollywood.

They had been dating for five months prior to getting engaged.

This remains one of the most memorable proposals to date.

William and Kate were vacationing in Africa when he got down on one knee, in a reclusive, cozy lodge at the foot of a mountain.

Six years later, they have two lovely kids and are, by all accounts, still as blissful as they were all those years ago.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry

They were only together for four months when Russell asked Katy to marry him while they were on vacation in India.

It was reportedly during a New Year's eve spiritual ceremony while they were blessed by a 'love guru'.

Sadly, they parted ways two years later.

Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon

Though they've been divorced for five years, their proposal story is still memorable and swoon-worthy.

They were at a quaint bed-and-breakfast when Ryan asked Reese to marry him while he brought her waffles with strawberries and cream in bed.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

They're both fond of over-the-top gestures so it makes sense that when Kanye popped the question, he would do so extravagantly.

He rented out a stadium for Kim's 33rd birthday and blasted "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!!" on the jumbotron for all their guests to see.

Their lavish wedding took place in a centuries-old castle in Florence, Italy.

Neve Campbell and John Light

The theater actor got a 'Yes' from 90s sweetheart Neve Campbell by asking him to marry her with the help of Shakespeare.

As he recited their favorite lines, Neve couldn't help but fall even more in love with him.

They're still happily together after all these years.

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

The actor made sure to incorporate their family tradition into his proposal, which made it even more romantic.

As they were giving out gifts during Christmas, he asked Camila to wait until the very end before opening her present.

It turned out to be a ring. He got down on one knee surrounded by their family and friends.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

Though they are no longer together, fans still remember how Tom whisked Katie Holmes away to Paris after only two months of dating.

He asked her to marry her atop the Eiffel Tower.

Ludacris and Eudoxie Agnan

Rapper/actor Ludacris asked Eudoxie Agnan to marry him as they took off in his private jet back in December 2014.

He got down on one knee as he projected his big question: "Eudoxie will you marry me?" from the plane all the way to the ground below.

They didn't waste time and tied the knot just days later!

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

Everyone was surprised when one of Hollywood's most elusive bachelors got engaged.

After making Amal a romantic dinner at home, George asked her to marry her!
