Although National Women’s Day was on March 8, the celebration of National Women’s Month continues! Here is how the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and other businesses are honoring women throughout the month of March and keeping the conversation of women empowerment going.

An ad by Ariel is highlighting the contributions of working women to the country.
It starts off by showing just the hands of laborers in various industries.
Then it reveals that the hands belong to women.
The video also shares that 94% of Filipinas above 15 years old actively contribute to the country’s economy. It reminds us that women should be supported to encourage them to continue working and overcoming the challenges they face everyday. These challenges include underemployment and receiving less pay than male counterparts.

In line with the theme for 2016 of “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda!” (Include Women in the Agenda), we hope that these initiatives make everyone more conscious about the need for more gender-balance in leadership positions. Better representation allows both public and private organizations to truly address concerns of the female workforce and to support and empower more women and girls to achieve their dreams.
