You might have probably noticed that the cool weather that surprisingly lasted until February is slowly starting to make way for hotter and hotter temperatures throughout the country.
The cold weather will be ending soon
According to Chris Perez, PAGASA weather forecaster, “We are observing higher temperature in most parts of the country, including Metro Manila. Easterlies have set in.”
He adds that the northeast monsoon which brings cool air from China and Siberia, will probably end soon.
In the meantime, a few places in Northern Luzon might still experience cold weather for a few days before the northeast monsoon ends.
Of course, it also means that families will need to ensure that they can be comfortable and avoid heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Keeping your kids cool during the summer
Here are some tips of how you can keep your kids cool while still having fun in the sun this summer!
- Make sure not to overexpose your kids to sunlight. This is especially true for younger kids since the intense heat of the sun during the summer can cause a lot of problems.
- Your kids should wear suncreen everytime they go out in strong sunlight.
- Keep yourselves hydrated. Preventing heat stroke goes more than just keeping cool. Hydration is also important, so make sure that you and your kids drink a lot of water during the summer.
- When you’re at the beach, make sure that your kids don’t stay out in the sun for too long. It’s also best if they can avoid exposing themselves to the sun during the noon since that’s the time that the sun is at it’s hottest.
- The summer heat can also affect you during the night. So make sure to have airconditioning, or an electric fan to help keep you cool while you sleep.
