Yasmien Kurdi opens up about how she overcame postpartum depression

The actress and mom has revealed that her return to showbiz was partially motivated by her battle with postpartum depression

After giving birth to her only daughter with husband Rey Soldevilla, actress Yasmien Kurdi went through a period of loneliness.

She reveals all this in a recent interview with entertainment website PEP.

“Parang nalulungkot ako,” she recalls, adding that she had nothing to challenge her or divert her attention. Parang, ‘This is it, pansit,’ parang ganun ang feeling.”

Her two-year hiatus from showbiz came to an end when she bumped into her former bosses at a party.

“Tapos yun, sabi ko, ‘Babalik ako,'” she said after she told them her contact had yet to be renewed.

The 28-year-old actress shot to fame when she made it to the final four of the popular talent competition, Starstruck. Her 1st runner up win earned her major television roles and a chance to pursue a singing career. So far, she’s released two studio albums.

Despite her time away from the spotlight, the devoted mom has no regrets.

After 11 years of being with her husband Rey, Yasmien credits patience and understanding as the key to why their relationship works.
