That was July 2019 when I went to Bacolod City and finally responded to Rain’s I love you and that simply means I am his girlfriend.

We were childhood friends back when we were little. I travelled all the way to Bacolod from Laguna to make our relationship official. Grabe ang effort, ‘di ba?

Yes, we were in a Long-Distance Relationship. It is a hard set up for us before to think that he’s my first boyfriend. We never had a chance to date, travel together, get to know each other in person, and so on. We did that online.

The engagement

Two months later, Rain and I had a chance to celebrate our birthdays together. He went to Laguna with his mom, he surprised me with a ring and proposed to me on my birthday, October 13, 2019.

And by then, we are looking forward to December 18, 2020, being our big day, our wedding day. We already started saving and preparing for the wedding.

We already planned for our wardrobe, entourage, guests list, ninongs and ninangs, honeymoon, etc. We even paid thousands of pesos for a down payment for our wedding and reception venue, wedding coordinator, food, and other wedding needs.

Just to secure everything that we wanted in our wedding will push through. We are very excited, and we really saved money and prepared everything for our wedding. Rain was so supportive because I really wanted to achieve my dream Christian Garden Wedding.

When the pandemic started in the Philippines, and our ZOOM wedding happened

And here comes the year 2020, the year we are waiting for. We are excited and thrilled, and all of the sudden the pandemic COVID-19 hit the country.

Every establishment was forced to close, businesses needed to stop at ang wedding plans namin parang bula na biglang naglaho. In my heart that time I was asking God, “God, bakit?”, “Paano na ‘yong wedding namin?”, “ Matutuloy pa ba ‘to?”

Indeed, many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. -Proverbs 19:21

The supposed to be December 18, 2020, Christian Garden wedding became June 26, 2020 Zoom Wedding here in our country the Philippines.

I tell you, never in my wildest dream to have a Zoom Wedding. It was never our planned because it was God’s plan for us. We believe that it is far more beautiful than what we planned.

It says in the bible that “God made everything beautiful in its time.” And indeed, it was so beautiful.

Our wedding pushes through in the midst of the pandemic. There’s no is no COVID-19 that will stop our love for each other. NAKS!

The total of our guests were 10, including the Officiating minister Pastor Vetty and his wife Ms. Josefina, Pastor Vetty’s assistant, Miriam, our Ninong Vic, and Ninang Avelynn Garcia who also walked us in the aisle, that served as our parents during our wedding.

My workmates, Sir Joseph, Sir Incel, Sir Jim, Sir Ed, Sir MJ, and Ms. Karen became our entourage, videographer and photographer, are the only people who joined us in our wedding psychically.

Meanwhile, we have over 100 visitors online via a Zoom meeting. Everyone in our family and friends and our ninongs and ninangs that we want to invite as long as they have the zoom link.

Our guests became unlimited because of our Zoom wedding. Those family and friends that we thought that we cannot invite because of the limited number of guests were invited and we have other guests from abroad

And because it is a virtual wedding, the food is also virtual. Kanya-kanyang food ang mga virtual guests namin during the reception time. Less gastos ‘di ba? Zoom wedding really works! Especially nowadays, technology is such a big help in our society today.

Yes, a traditional wedding is still different, especially if you want to have real witnesses physically in your wedding to witness your exchange of vowers as you enter into your married life.

But in our case, this is God’s will. And our wedding turns out to be the most beautiful, solemn, and intimate wedding that we dreamed of, and because of the technology, every person that we want to witness our wedding was present on that day.

After the wedding, we had this realization, that may be to some, the pandemic has a great struggle and caused us too much pain, but for some, especially to us, the pandemic has been a great blessing in disguise.

That’s why we praise God for His wonderful and beautiful plans for us and for His perfect timing. And this coming June 26, 2022, we are about to celebrate our second-year wedding anniversary.

To God be all the glory!
