La’Darious Wylie was waiting with his sister Sha’vonta, 7, at the usual corner where they would wait for their school bus.
It was around 7 a.m. when a car suddenly sped towards them on the corner of Dye Ashford street, South Carolina, U.S.A.
Responding quickly, he lunged and pushed his sister out of the way just in time. Other students nearby were stunned and later on would go on to describe him as a “superhero”.
He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to The Herald, his family and school were informed. His school prinicipal arrived before his parents did.
The next day, he died from injuries sustained from the hit-and-run accident.
The driver responsible for the tragedy, 57-year-old Michelle Johnson, now faces up to 25 years in prison.
Though still grieving and recovering from the loss, his family made a decision to donate his organs so he can save more lives.
