Recently, I heard that my neighbor's eight-year-old son had been diagnosed with diabetes. The child is overweight for his age, is not active, spends too much time in front of the television and eats a lot of junk food. It made me realize how important it was that my husband and I encourage our growing kids to make exercise a habit.
But where would I start? Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of exercise. But I knew if I wanted to keep my family healthy, I'd have to start with myself and everything else would follow. Nowadays, my family is more active, we enjoy playing sports and have been leading a healthier lifestyle since.
