Akyat Bahay Gang Members Spotted By Subdivision Security Just in Time
The latest Akyat Bahay gang case is shedding light on the importance of vigilant security.
Security guard Glenmar Ugay first suspected something was amiss when he noticed the lights were on in an uninhabited house. So he called the police immediately.
ABS-CBN reports that the two members of a suspected Akyat Bahay Gang were shot dead during an encounter with Quezon City police. The two men reportedly were trying to escape, exchanging gunfire with police before they were killed.
According to the report, this was not the first time an Akyat Bahay Gang targeted the said subdivision. CCTV footage captured a group of men carting away a television and various appliances in an earlier incident. They are still trying to confirm if the men in the footage were the same men killed in the police encounter.
Seven cases of home invasion and robbery have been reported in the subdivision this month alone. Local authorities will be working closely with the homeowner’s association to ensure the safety of the neighborhood.

Akyat Bahay Gang: How To Protect Your Home and Your Loved Ones
1. Make Sure It is Well Lit
Even when you’re away, you can install motion-activating lights in dark areas. Keeping the lights on can also discourage intruders because it means there are people inside the home.
2. Keep Valuables Well Hidden
Stow away electronics or gadgets far from the view of outsiders. For instance, don’t display a giant flat screen right in your living room window.
3. Do Your Gardening!
Yes, this might seem strange but taming wild shrubs and plants helps you keep your home safe. How? You’re not making your home an easy target by getting rid of areas potential robbers can hide.
4. Be Careful What Information You Share
Though it’s second nature to want to share your latest adventures on social media, make sure not to make the information public. Only share travel details with those you know and trust.
5. Secure Windows
Make sure to install grills, locks, or fortified glass on windows. Intruders love targeting homes with windows that can be easily forced open.
6. Change Door Locks Regularly
Make sure doors have dead bolts, which makes doors harder to kick open. Remember that some older locks can be easily picked. So invest in regular upgrades to locks and gates!
7. Report Suspicious Behavior ASAP
If you notice suspicious men or women lingering around your neighborhood, report them to security immediately. Remember, though, to also give people the benefit of the doubt. They could just be innocent bystanders. Don’t be overly paranoid, but also trust your gut! The safety of your family could depend on it.
