30 May, 2016

A big part of why our favorite Disney princesses achieved their happily-ever-after is because they had wonderful dads rooting for them every step of the way!

8 Awesome Disney dads who were always there for their princesses

There is no shortage of great dads we can look up to in TV and Film.

For years, Disney has given us memorable dads who are key characters in their daughter's stories.

They offer comfort, strength, and have inspired our beloved Disney princesses to bravely reach for their dreams.

Belle and Maurice

Belle and Maurice

They were both offbeat characters misunderstood by their community.

But despite this, Maurice encouraged Belle's love for reading and her vivid imagination.

He taught her to dream and believe in herself---even if no one else did.

Jasmine and the Sultan

Though they got off to a rocky start because he was pressuring Jasmine to find a royal suitor, the Sultan eventually realizes his daughter's happiness was most important.

He changed the law just so his daughter could marry her one true love, Aladdin.

Ariel and King Triton

Ariel may have disobeyed her dad when he chose to become human and marry Prince Eric--wanting more than life under the sea.

But her selfless dad sacrificed his need to keep his daughter with him and set her free, even if it meant he would never see her again.

Pocahontas and Chief Powhatan

Though Pocahontas' free-spirited nature caused Powhatan to fear for her safety, he eventually allowed her to follow her heart, believing in her "courage and understanding".

When she had her heart broken, Powhatan was right there beside her to support her decision to put her family over the love of her life.

Mulan and Fa Zhou

Though Mulan had to disobey him at first, she knew it was for his own well-being.

Despite how much it hurt his pride and how her feared for his daughter, he kept her secret.

After she came home triumphantly as China's hero, he welcomed her saying having her for a daughter was his "greatest honor".

Merida and King Fergus

From the beginning of the movie, 'Brave', we could already see how close this daddy-daughter duo was.

He taught her how to shoot arrows and encouraged her to pursue her passions. They were BFFs and it was truly heartwarming.

Tiana and James

Even after her dad passed away, Tiana carried all the great values she learned from him as she worked hard to achieve her dreams.

Rapunzel and King Frederic

Though they were separated for a long time, King Frederic and his wife never gave up hope that they would find their little princess.

They lit up the sky each year on her birthday with dazzling floating lanterns just to show her how much she was loved and missed.
