Thanks to advancements in technology, couples who want to be parents now have more options than just simply accepting infertility.
Back in 1995, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) was made available in the Philippines. According to IVF Philippines, it is “a method of assisted reproduction in which a man’s sperm and a woman’s eggs are combined outside of the body in a laboratory dish. One or more fertilized eggs (embryos) may be transferred to the woman’s uterus, where they may implant in the uterine lining and develop. Excess embryos may be cryopreserved (frozen) for future use.”
For these celebrities, the journey to making the decision to build families through the help of In Vitro Fertilization may not have been easy—some dealt with difficulty in conceiving, miscarriage, and failed attempts of the procedure, but they eventually succeeded!

Brooke Shields’ daughter Rowan
Her struggle with postpartum depression is no secret, but not a lot of people know about her journey towards getting pregnant in the first place. At 36, the actress/model began trying IVF, which failed several times, but she eventually succeeded and gave birth to her adorable daughter Rowan in 2003.
“The whole process was quite an ordeal, and we became slaves to the time of day and to little vials of liquid,” Shields wrote on Fertility Today. “We’d find ourselves out at dinner with friends, and then we’d have to sneak off to a coat room, where we’d huddle over syringes and a travel-size cooler filled with small bottles of drugs.”
In 2006, she gave birth to another daughter without the help of any reproductive assistive procedures.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s twin girls
The Sex and the City star and mom of three gave birth to her first child naturally in 2002. Seven years later, in 2009, she welcomed twin girls Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, with husband Matthew Broderick through IVF, specifically gestational surrogacy.
“Meeting your children rather than giving birth to them, it’s as if, um, it’s — suspended animation,” she recounts her experience in an interview with Vogue. “The gestational experience is gone. It’s as if everything else disappears for a moment, and the world goes silent and — I can’t explain it except to say that nothing else existed.”

Celine Dion’s twin boys
The iconic singer tried IVF a total of seven times. Throughout the process, she gave birth to three kids. She gave birth to her eldest when she was 33. Nine years later, she and late husband René Angélil tried again. But at 42, it proved to be more challenging. She suffered a miscarriage before finding out she was pregnant with triplets. Unfortunately, though, she lost one of the babies, but managed to give birth to healthy twin boys Eddy and Nelson Angélil, who are now 6 years old.
They recently celebrated their first birthday without their dad, who passed away last year. Through the grieving process, Celine shares how she’s manages to find healing and comfort through the love of her precious boys.
