After 12 years of marriage, Donita Rose and Eric Villarama called it quits. The TV Host/actress confirmed the sad news on her friend Mo Twister’s podcast, Good Times With Mo.
In a recent interview on the same show, months later, Donita provided more details, including the real reason behind their separation. In the past, there has been speculation that it was because of financial reasons, but now Donita is giving more details about the split.
She summed it up in “character flaws” at “character issues,” opening up about her failed marriage as a response to a male caller seeking advice on how to move on from a failed relationship.
Donita’s advice was to first forgive himself before he can truly begin moving on.
“Sometimes it has got a lot to do with forgiving yourself…”

“Sometimes it has got a lot to do with forgiving yourself,” Donita reportedly told the caller, reports PEP. “In my case, I did everything I thought I could. But why am I at the losing end of this deal because that person left me?”
‘What ifs’ are futile, because the problem was the core of their relationship
She also reveals that these realizations come from playing it back in her mind.
“Even if I had done things differently, this person would have left me anyway because it’s character issue,” emphasized the single mom. “Let’s say, if I have this tendency to miss my ex [husband] and go, ‘How I wish…’ And I erase things [wishful thinking]. I erase things again and go, ‘No!’ because even if there is a chance, I would never go back to that again because of the character flaws.”

It was not all her ex-husband’s fault
“The picture that I paint in my mind of what’s supposed to be perfect and a great relationship would never happen because of the character flaws and character issues,” stated Donita.
However, she was quick to clarify that her ex-husband was not entirely at fault. The couple have a 12-year-old son named Joshua Paul who was born shortly after they were married in 2004.

“I’m just saying that we paint this dream picture in our mind of what a relationship is supposed to be like and sometimes we immortalize the person and we can’t seem to let go,” lamented Donita. “And if he did this to you [cheating], he will do it again in the future. But really, there’s somebody out there better for you. Don’t look back anymore. Burn the pictures.”
