Parents strike fear in our hearts no matter what age we are. When we were young, funny things Filipino parents do when they’re mad usually come off as completely horrifying.

But now, we take a look at some of the funny things Filipino parents do, even if as children we were pretty darn scared to see happen:
Pinagdidilatan ka
Carla, mother of two girls, says that parents who are mad often widen their eyes, raise their eyebrows and try to pin you with their stare. It usually works, until they turn around.
Pinalalaki butas ng ilong
Some parents think they’re doing the ‘nanlilisik ang mata’, but they’re just actually making their nostrils look bigger.
Call you by your whole name or second name
Danielle, mother of one, says that she and her cousins always knew their parents were on a rampage when they start calling them by whole names.
Say, “Wag mo ako susubukan!”
Famous line right there.
Say, “Makakatikim ka sa ‘kin!”
Our usual reply is, “Hindi na po!”
Throw all your clothes out of the house
Anthony, dad of one, says that his cousins and siblings frequently got into trouble by not coming home at night. They’d usually find their clothes strewn outside the door for everyone to see.
Lock you out of the house
Sometimes, parents just can’t stand us and they push us out of the gate. If we weren’t crying our hearts out, we would have realised: FREEDOM!
