Healthy summer snacks that are easy to make at home

Running out of ideas of what to give your kids as snacks during their summer break? Why not try out these delicious and healthy snacks!

Are your kids tired of the same old snacks that you're giving them? Do you want to try out giving your kids some delicious and healthy snacks for summer? Then why not try out these delicious recipes!

1. Fruity halo-halo

Instead of using preserved or sweetened fruits in your hal0-halo, why not try using fresh fruit instead? Try mixing up your kid's favorite fresh fruits, and then add some shaved ice, sago, and milk to make it creamy! You can also add some sliced buko to make it taste even better!

It's a refreshing take on the regular halo-halo, that's both tasty and healthy! We're sure that your kids will love it.

2. Baked sweet potato fries

Sweet potatoes (kamote) are tasty, and have more nutrients compared to regular potatoes. And making baked sweet potato fries can't be any easier!

Just grab some sweet potatoes, chop them up into sticks, and then place them in the oven until they're golden brown and crips. The great thing is that they taste just like potato fries, and it's even healthier! Your kids will surely love the unique taste of baked sweet potato fries!

3. Fruity ice candy

Fruity ice candy is great for helping your kids cool down on a hot summer day! You can just buy some fresh fruit juice, or put some fruits in a blender, and then place them in a plastic bag for ice candies, and then put them in the freezer until they're hard.

You don't need to add any sugar as fresh fruit is already sweet, so you'll be sure that it's healthy for your kids. Plus it has all of the nutrients and vitamins, without the preservatives.

4. Granola bars

Granola bars are easy to make, healthy, and delicious! Plus they also keep well. For the ingredients to make granola, you need oatmeal, various types of nuts, preserved fruits, coconut oil, shredded coconut, honey, and brown sugar, vanilla, and salt.

To make the granola, place the dry ingredients minus the sugar on a baking pan, and bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees, or until they're lightly browned. In a saucepan, mix together the wet ingredients, and the sugar, until everything is well incorporated. Then pour the syrup mixture on top of the dry ingredients, and mix them well.

Place the mixture into a baking pan, and bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees, or until it's golden brown. Voila, you have just made your own granola!

5. Fresh fruit shakes!

If you have a blender at home, then you should try making some fresh fruit shakes. You just mix some ice and sweet fresh fruits in a blender, and blend it until it's smooth. You don't need to add any extra sugar to the shake, since if you use fresh fruits, the sugar in the fruits will be enough.

You can also add milk or cream to make it creamier! Really simple, fresh, and healthy!
