Why you and your kids should definitely watch How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

If you're looking for a movie that's a must-watch for the entire family, you should definitely check out How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

The film series How to Train Your Dragon has quickly become a pop culture phenomenon. The series started out as a children’s book, written by author Cressida Howell, and her timeless characters eventually made the transition to the big screen back in 2010.

It’s been 9 years since the first movie, and now Hiccup and Toothless are back, with their entire crew tagging along for a 3rd movie!

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – a must-watch for the family

For those unfamiliar with the series, check out the videos below to get up to speed with the film:

What is the film all about?

From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go.  What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic adventure spanning their lives. Welcome to the most astonishing chapter of one of the most beloved animated franchises in film history: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia.  When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they’ve known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth.  As their true destines are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure.

The film offers great entertainment for the entire family, and the lessons of trust, love, friendship, and family will definitely resonate with kids and adults.

It shows kids the complex relationships between animals and humans, as well as the importance that family holds in their lives. Adapting to change also plays a big part in the movie, and it’s something that kids and even their parents need to deal with at one point or another.

The movie features a star-studded cast, starring Jay Baruchel (This Is the End), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Cate Blanchett (The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Thor: Ragnarok), Gerard Butler (Den of Thieves, Geostorm), Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters), Craig Ferguson (Doc Martin), and F. Murray Abraham (Homeland) as the villain Grimmel.

The film is directed by Dean DeBlois, who also directed the first 2 films in the series, and produced by Brad Lewis (Ratatouille, ANTZ) and How to Train Your Dragon series producer Bonnie Arnold (Toy Story, Tarzan).

Don’t miss the epic conclusion! How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – in Philippine cinemas February 20.
