It was a hectic weekend
Fresh from a speaking engagement in LA, Vice President and hands-on-mom Leni Robredo flew to Boston to help get her eldest daughter Aika, settled in to her new apartment as well as the campus.
She writes, “It was a very hectic two days for both of us as we fixed and cleaned her apartment inside the campus.”
“Except for a meeting with United Way Foundation this afternoon to explore a possible partnership with our Angat Buhay program, I was a full-time mother once again. During a short lull this afternoon, we went around the campus and visited our old haunts from 19 years ago when we lived here. We also visited Martin Luther King, Jr.Elementary School which she attended when she was in 5th Grade,” she adds
The pair also joined a potluck dinner for Filipinos in Harvard, and Leni writes, “(I) am flying back home comforted by the thought that Aika will be in very good company.”
A proud mom
A few months back, Vice President Leni shared on the Facebook account that she was proud of her daughter, Aika, who got accepted into both Harvard and Oxford University in the US.
She wrote, “Please allow me to be a proud parent again. Received a little bit of good news one after another. Aika got accepted for the Masters Degree programs she was applying for at both Harvard and Oxford, her two top choices.”
“This brings to mind our celebrated milestones in the past. Jesse’s TOYM, TOYP, Ramon Magsaysay Awards, his acceptance to Harvard, etc. All came at the heels of difficult circumstances. And then this. Another lesson in faith. God is truly just.”
After her father’s death, Aika Robredo continued his legacy by joining the Department of Transportation and Communications, and served as an executive assistant at the Office of Civil Defense.
