Mariel Rodriguez rushed to hospital upon experiencing abdominal pain; talks about pregnancy paranoia

It was a painful feeling "I have not felt before," the actress shares.

Is Mariel Rodriguez's pregnancy in jeopardy?

Expectant mother Mariel rushed herself to the hospital on June 14 due to abdominal pain.

According to the actress, she panicked after feeling something in her abdomen that she had never felt before. Mariel, who has had two miscarriages in the past and is currently in a sensitive state due her pregnancy, admitted she has become paranoid about her pregnancy.

"I rushed myself [to] the hospital thinking something was wrong because it was a feeling I have not felt before,' she said in a Facebook post.

Mariel was afraid she was having contractions. But as it turned out, she was feeling her baby moving!

"...my baby is just really playful. It was the baby's movements I was feeling!!!!"

Too much negativity

According to Mariel, her paranoia can also be explained by the many negative comments she has been hearing of late.

"I was so paranoid maybe because people kept saying don't travel, don't eat this, don't drink that, too much negativity," she lamented.

The experience has taught Mariel, who has just returned to the country from a trip to Amsterdam, not to heed negative comments anymore.

"Truth is, I won't do anything that would harm my baby and I'm not going to let comments affect me anymore," she resolved.

She hopes people will stop with the negativity and pray for her and the baby instead.

"I am sensitive, hormonal and paranoid as it is what i need from people...their prayers not unsolicited advice," Mariel said.

Taking it easy

"So far my baby is doing good but I just have to rest this out," Mariel announced. She will be taking a leave from her noontime TV entertainment show, Showtime, for the duration of her pregnancy.

"When i heard my baby's heartbeat again all the "pain" was gone," she narrated.

"It's all in my head (oops)," Mariel was able to laugh about the experience.

"[I] will relax now and enjoy my pregnancy and pray for a healthy baby!!! There is no need to worry because we are doing fabulous. Got a strong baby here... just like daddy," Mariel assured.

A recent Instagram post shows action star and husband of Mariel, Robin Padilla, injecting her with her daily shot of heparin, twice a day.

In a previous interview with members of the entertainment press, the couple spoke about the painful procedure Mariel has to endure everyday to keep the baby safe.

"Her entire thigh is covered with bruises, not because she is an addict, but because she needs to inject heparin twice a day. This is aside from the insulin that is also injected,” Robin had said in the vernacular.

According to the couple, Mariel’s body does not recognize the fetus as her developing baby, but attacks it like it would a foreign body.

“It’s every day. Kasi my body, my blood is attacking the baby. Iniisip niya na foreign body kaya inaatake niya siya. (Because my body, my blood is attacking the baby. It thinks [the baby] is a foreign body that’s why [my body] attacks [the baby]”), Mariel explained.

“So, I have to take my heparin shots para pampakalmahin na rin ang dugo ko (to calm my blood), para the nutrients can go to the baby.”

Mariel also has gestational diabetes.

This is the third pregnancy for Mariel, having previously miscarried twice. Mariel lost her first baby in March 2015 when she was 8 weeks pregnant. Her second miscarriage was in August of the same year when she lost her triplets.
