Last February 13, Miriam Quiambao, 43, went to the hospital for a check up. She found out that she was already 1cm dilated at 34 weeks! The former beauty queen was not allowed to go home anymore and was hooked on a fetal monitor.
Her husband, Ardy Roberto, posted on his Instagram account that the doctors are monitoring his wife who “might be going into labor na.”
He added, “They’ll try to keep baby Elijah inside her for a few more days so that his lungs are more stable. Miriam is not going home until she gives birth! Heto na!”
Since the baby, whom they named Elijah, was still pre-term, the doctors have given Miriam medicines to stop her from going into labor.
“We’re a month early so they’ll try to prolong delivery as long as they can for the baby’s sake,” says Ardy. “Don’t know when delivery is—can be anytime within the next few days or in a week or two sana… But good news is that prayers have been answered and contractions have stopped for now. There is also no more ‘brain sparing’ so that means baby Elijah is getting the oxygen, blood and nutrients that his brain and body needs. Praise God!”

Miriam Quiambao: Waiting for Baby Elijah
While waiting for Baby Elijah’s birth, Miriam Quiambao had a private child birthing class with fellow former Bb. Pilipinas Universe beauty queen and birth coach Chiqui Brosas-Hahn.
“She gave us a brief summary of the female anatomy and what happens during labor so that we know what to expect,” says Miriam in a post.
Miriam learned all about the Lamaze breathing techniques “to manage the pain of childbirth.”
She adds, “At the end of the session, we came up with a birth plan to make sure all requests and preferences delivery and the best care for baby will be followed!”

Miriam Quiambao gives birth
Although the mom-to-be hoped for a normal spontaneous delivery (NSD), Miriam was still experiencing contractions and was already fully effaced. This meant that her cervix was already thinning, getting ready for baby to come out. Also, Miriam had low amniotic fluid already.
On February 16, Miriam gave birth via an emergency caesarean section at 7:32 p.m.
Delivered by Dr. Becky Singson, Baby Elijah “weighed 4lbs 7oz., cried heartily, had an Apgar score of 10 and has a perfect latch. Glory to God for answered prayers! So grateful to God for this wonderful gift!”
