my pregnancy story

I first got pregnant when I was 22. I quit smoking and drinking all the same because I know how bad that would be for my baby. My parents used to tell me to walk around a lot especially on my third trimester so that the labor and delivery time won’t be that long. And boy, were they right.

The First Born

On my first child, I started having bearable contractions at around 3:00am. The excruciating ones happened at around 9:00-10:00 am, followed by the pain that I don’t know where to put. I started vomiting and getting dizzy because my body didn’t know how to cope with such pain! And then, couple hours later at around 12:00 noon, my baby boy was out! He was bald and healthy and I love him the first time I saw him.

The Succeeding Ones

My second is also a boy, delivered via NSD (Normal Spontaneous Delivery) and gave me 4 hours of intense labor – before finally crying out of my womb.
The third is a girl, NSD, and gave me 2 hours of labor before getting out. She didn’t give me a hard time delivering her out, and now they say we’re twins.

This is my blessed pregnancy journey

The “My Water Broke!” Moment

The youngest is a girl, NSD, and gave me 2 hours of labor. Unlike the others where I saw spots of blood on my undies before having contractions, with my youngest, I experienced the “My Water Broke” moment. There was so much water coming out of me it was crazy! Amazingly, I did not feel any contractions right away, compared to the first 3 where contractions happened a few minutes after the spotting. My water broke at around 12 noon, and there was still no pain by 9 PM. I was able to fully prepare my bag, take a hot long bath (which was a NO-NO!) and slept well before my husband and I decided to go to my doctor, because I wasn’t feeling any pain at all.

Instead of asking me how I’m feeling, my husband asked: “What would you like to eat after the delivery?” I was like “Really? You talk like I’ll be done in a few minutes” Oh how we laughed that time! I enjoyed that laugh because I know that in a few minutes, pain will come.

In the clinic

We arrived at the clinic, and the nurses and midwife almost scolded me because what I did was dangerous – the baby and I could have had infection if we waited longer, but hey, they ended up still rupturing my amniotic sac and doing nipple stimulation so I could go into labor.

Unfortunately, I had an LBM while on labor. It was cray cray times – I’m already asked to push, but the more I do, the more liquidy poopies come out – no baby! I regretted having to eat too much greens weeks before my due date. My OB was very patient and encouraging despite the stinky situation. I wanted to disappear that time, but the pain was too much I wished for the baby to be out more than to cater and hug my pride (lol). I was dehydrated and was losing energy to push further, I thought I would be CS. But fortunately, my OB was very supportive of me getting an NSD so the baby was delivered that way. Hooray! That was the longest 3 hours of my life! That was Christmas eve, and to thank my team, we gave them something special for the holidays after checking out.

My Learnings

Through all my pregnancies, I tried my best to eat healthy and do a bit of preggy stretching and exercise. I walked a lot, and I really conditioned myself. But no matter how we try to imitate our lifestyle from our prior pregnancies, it does not always end the same.

But one thing is for sure – eating healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle gives a really wonderful effect on your pregnancy. Each woman is unique from the other, some can have kids while others cannot, some go into labor for days, while others in just a few hours. Whatever category you fit in, You are doing great! Focus on yourself and your baby, and watch how this journey transform you into motherhood. So, this is my pregnancy story! What’s yours?
