Robin and Mariel Padilla, who have been wanting so long to have a baby, happily announced on August 13 that they’re expecting a baby girl!
“Noong nalaman ko na girl, alam mo, I realized na the baby is for me, kasi God knows na girl naman talaga ang gusto ko. I was really happy,” she recounted to PEP at their special “gender reveal” event at Le Jardin in BGC.
“I’d also be happy if it was a boy,” she continued. “Tapos nung nalaman ko, sobrang iba pala yung feeling. Masaya din ako na girl.”
She reveals that the reason why she initially wanted to have a boy is because Robin already had a lot of daughters already.
As for Robin, he would be happy with whatever gender.
What’s important is that the baby would come out normal and healthy. “Yun naman ang ultimate wish ng lahat,” said the actor.

There was much reason to celebrate that day as it was Mariel’s birthday and their 6th wedding anniversary.
“Sa birthday ko, my only wish, I really wish is we have a healthy baby. Sa lahat ng mga nagpe-pray, thank you talaga,” gushed the expectant mom.

She also said they had decided on a name for their daughter already but decided to reveal it during their baby shower.

It’s been a long, difficult road for the couple. Mariel has already miscarried twice so it’s inspiring to see her having a fun and healthy albeit delicate pregnancy.
Now at her 6th month of pregnancy, Mariel gushed that she can already feel her baby moving around in her womb.

“The pregnancy is fun. It’s not an easy pregnancy. It’s not a regular pregnancy. For me, I’m still blessed. It could’ve been worse,” Mariel told PEP. “Medyo may mga challenges at saka matrabaho siya. Pero masaya naman kasi nararamdaman ko na yung baby ko na gumagalaw. Mas happy ka kasi alam mo na yung life niya, nandun na talaga.”
The couple are already talking about their birth plan. “Water birth ang gusto niya talaga,” shared the soon-to-be mom. “I just don’t know if I can because of my situation. We will try our best.”

Robin shared that Mariel is getting in touch with organizations specializing in water birth and natural ways to give birth by attending seminars.
“Ako, sabi ko nga sa kanya, basta normal. Kanina nakita ko na agad na maliit na siya, maliit na Mariel,” said the excited dad-to-be. “Doon ako excited ngayon, kung ano ang magiging hitsura nila. Ang galing!”
