She's battling depression but husband shares why he loves her

13 Dec, 2015

“For better or for worse, in sickness and in health,” are words that are found in traditional marriage vows.

For newlyweds Tim and Molly Murphy, their vows were put to the test early on in their marriage.

The Murphys are from San Francisco but live apart during the week because of work – Tim got a new job in Los Angeles.

However, Molly has been battling with depression and anxiety, especially after the death of a friend.

After a particularly rough day at work, she recounts, “I flopped onto my bed in tears.”

But something she saw written on the mirror gave her a reason to cry happy tears.

In an ABC News article, she shared, “We had been going through so many trials and tribulations so early in our marriage, and just for him to find the time and love to write all those kind and loving words for me. I thought, ‘This is just like a love story in a movie. It was perfection.'”

The full list

Tim listed down some of the reasons that he loves her – and the photo Molly posted on Imgur has already more than a million views.

Particularly touching are “She never quits on herself or me” and “She has experienced severe tragedy yet is the most optimistic person about humanity I know.”

It also includes simple but nevertheless heartfelt reasons like “She snorts when she laughs” and “She is my best friend.”

It is heartwarming to know that someone with depression can still be hopeful, especially when there is a person who will stick with her through thick and thin.

Molly adds, “I’m not saying mental illness is cured by nice words on a mirror. In fact, it takes professional care, love, empathy, sometimes even medication just to cope…I’m still struggling, but I’m glad I have my other half to help me make it through.

It may just be a few words on my mirror, but I’ll look at them when I wake up and know I’m not alone. I’ll know I have my bestfriend, my co-pilot in life to help guide me through.”
