CCTVs in Sta. Mesa, Manila captured the heroic act of a brave mom who stopped two riding-in-tandem snatchers from getting away with robbing her daughter.
Her daughter, who’s a registered Nurse, was walking down a street when, out of nowhere, two men on a motorcycle snatched the cellphone she was holding.
Stunned, she still managed to run after them. After a few seconds, her mom, who was waiting just around the corner, rushed towards them and body blocked the speeding motorcycle.
Though it sped past her, she managed to slow them down enough for her daughter to catch up with them.
The daughter and mother then took turns beating up one of the suspects, who was eventually arrested. The other suspect managed to run away.
According to a report by GMA News TV’s QRT, the mother in the video was not injured during the brawl.

According to ABS-CBN’s Red Alert, around 7 to 8 motorcycle-related crimes are reported daily. They also shared some helpful tips on how to keep yourself safe from riding in tandem snatchers.
Safety expert Maury Ocampo told Red Alert that riding in tandems usually wait for possible victims on street corners.
His advice is to be extremely alert of one’s surroundings
For instance, be extra careful when you spot new, unfamiliar faces in your neighborhood.
If you carry a backpack, carry it in front of you.
It’s important to remember that riding in tandem snatchers look for easy targets and carrying a backpack loosely behind you can make you a prime target.
If you’re toting around a huge sum of money, don’t keep it all in one place.
Make sure to keep some in your pockets, socks, and not just in your wallet or bag.
The thing about riding in tandem, he says, is they just grab what’s easiest to get in order to make a quick getaway.
Though one’s first impulse once this happens is to fight back, don’t.
Ocampo cautions us not to resist and just let them take your belongings. Some riding in tandem snatchers come armed. It’s better to lose one’s belongings than one’s life.
