Nowadays, a lot of people tend to forget just how important breakfast is. There’s a reason why people call breakfast “The most important meal of the day,” and it’s because eating right, and starting your day with a good and healthy breakfast makes sure that you start off your day right.
Skipping breakfast makes you gain weight
A number of studies agree that skipping breakfast isn’t a good idea. Skipping breakfast has been linked to a number of health risks, which include problems in blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
Additionally, some people who are trying to lose weight tend to skip breakfast so that they can lose weight. However, this can actually do the opposite since since eating breakfast actually enhances your body’s metabolism, which can help you lose weight.
That’s because breakfast literally ‘breaks’ your ‘fast’, which mean that you burn more calories during breakfast compared to other meals.
Also, skipping breakfast usually means that people feel the need to compensate for their hunger during the morning, leading them to eat more snacks and even junk food throughout the day.
Skipping breakfast also has a lot of other health risks
Additionally, skipping breakfast can cause a stressful condition in the body called “oxidation” wherein the starving cells turn into “terrorist cells” by forming oxygen-free radicals that can destroy healthy cells that they come in contact with.
These “terrorist cells” can also disrupt normal functioning in the arteries, and can even lead to narrowing in the arteries.
Additionally, according to a Harvard Study that was published 4 years ago, checked the health records of about 27,000 healthcare professionals, aged 45-82, and found that the men who skipped breakfast were 27% more likely to be at risk of having a heart attack and has also been linked to unhealthy lifestyle practices like smoking, alcohol intake, long hours at work, and being inactive.
This just goes to show how important it is for everyone to avoid skipping breakfast, as eating breakfast helps jumpstart your body’s metabolism and helps you get ready to start your day.
