Bianca Gonzalez was recently in the United States together with husband JC Intal and their 7-month-old daughter Lucia. She is determined to continue breastfeeding despite the struggles of traveling with a baby. Here are some of her #mommydiaries posts.
Strike anywhere (and everywhere)
Bianca shared that it is more convenient to feed directly than to constantly pump and wash bottles. This means that she had to breastfeed EVERYWHERE – from a fine dining restaurant to Alcatraz Island! Here they are breastfeeding on a bench in Napa Valley.

While everyone else was drinking wine in the famous wine-growing region, she lamented that she only had grape juice. Breastfeeding moms are advised to minimize their alcohol intake so Bianca chose to play it safe. She didn’t totally abstain during the trip though and tried some Miraval Rose (a.k.a. Brangelina wine).

She gushed that San Francisco has awesome food but avoided shellfish. It’s unclear if she did so because she is nursing.

Galactagogues are definitely part of her diet. “I bring lactation cookies and malunggay vitamins with me all the time,” she wrote. It is her way of increasing her output because she’s “not one of those moms with overflowing milk.”

She admits that traveling with a baby is challenging and totally exhausting but she’s also excited to take her daughter on many more family trips.

She even has a message to other breastfeeding moms: “When you are breastfeeding, #thestruggleisreal. SO real… It is really tough, but we do what we can for our babies. So to every other new mom like me trying our best to breastfeed our babies, let’s give ourselves a pat on the back because it is not easy, and know you aren’t alone. We are in this together.”
