This guide aims to help Filipinos make healthier food choices and prevent chronic diseases by encouraging balanced meals and proper portion sizes.

Ang layunin nito ay tulungan ang mga Pilipino na magkaroon ng mas malusog na pagkain at maiwasan ang mga chronic diseases sa pamamagitan ng balanseng pagkain at tamang sukat.

Budget ng Gobyerno at Mga Threshold ng Kahirapan

Sa mga nakaraang taon, itinalaga ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ang food threshold sa mga P64 kada tao sa isang araw. Ito ang halaga na itinuturing na sapat para sa pangunahing pangangailangan sa pagkain, na nasa mga P21.33 kada meal. Pero, may mga tanong kung sapat ba talaga ang halagang ito para maabot ang nutritional standards ng Pinggang Pinoy.
