Keeping the family safe in the new normal

Keeping the family safe in the new normal

Protect yourself and your loved ones by staying at home as much as possible

With the easing of the community quarantine, many are worried about their family’s safety amid the ongoing pandemic. As we resume activities in the new normal, Solane, the leading LPG solutions provider, shares some tips to help everyone stay protected at home and in public places during this health crisis.

Better be sure than sorry. When it comes to safety, it’s best that no one in your household lets their guard down even if it has been months since this pandemic started. Remind everyone in the family to wear protective face mask, face or eye shield and clothing when going out. Have disinfecting mats at the entrance to avoid bringing germs and bacteria into your home. Disinfect grocery items and packages before bringing them into your home. Whether at work or in public spaces, always wash hands with soap and water thoroughly.

Stay at home! While many may be tempted to go to the malls or other public spaces to pass the time or bond with their family, remember that leaving the house already raises the risk of contracting the virus. Protect yourself and your loved ones by staying at home as much as possible and assign one or two persons to go out to buy only the essentials.

Avoid crowded and enclosed spaces. Social distancing is essential to avoid the spread of a contagious virus. As such, avoid crowded, enclosed spaces that make it hard to practice social distancing. If you must eat out, make sure the restaurant has the dividers and safety protocols in place. However, as much as possible, cook meals for your family at home, where it’s safer.

Boost your immune system.  Cook nutritious food at home that are rich in vitamins and minerals to boost your immune system and fight off diseases. Also encourage the entire family to drink vitamins and supplements daily. The best vitamins to help fight off illnesses are Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin E.

Maintain a clean environment. It’s the rainy season! That means that apart from fighting the coronavirus, many also have to contend with other illnesses that are rampant during this season, including seasonal flu, dengue, amoebiasis, and respiratory diseases. To prevent these illnesses from infecting your household, make sure to regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces at home and even the surrounding environment. To prevent dengue, don’t forget to put on mosquito repellant.

Give each other emotional support. The ongoing global crisis can take a toll on one’s mental health. During these difficult times, it is important to have the support of loved ones. Staying connected to loved ones, be it face-to-face or virtual, can help alleviate stress, anxiety and depression.

During these unprecedented times, the family is there to help, support and protect each other. Look after one another by following these preventive measures to keep everyone safe. For more tips and information, visit www.solane.com.ph.
