The newly single mom has gone through a lot when it comes to love and she is now sharing her wisdom with her three daughters—Angelina, 15 Samantha, 12 and Chesca, 10.
Though her eldest daughter Angelina already has a suitor, Sunshine cautions them not to be in a rush.
“Mag-ipon ka muna, especially now,” Sunshine recalls telling her eldest daughter in an interview with the entertainment website PEP, proudly revealing that she just got a record deal with Universal Records. “So sabi ko, ‘Enjoy ka muna, enjoy ka with your friends, and eto, matuto ka muna mag-Tagalog,’ kasi hindi siya masyadong fluent sa Tagalog. Saka na yung ligaw, darating iyan.”
When it comes to choosing the best partner for them one day, Sunshine believes it’s important for them to choose a friend.
“Ako, I always tell them na look for someone who will, una muna, sabi ko it’s better na friends muna, start off as friends. Minsan kapag nanliligaw ang lalaki, best foot forward iyan. Pero kapag sinagot mo na, biglang iba na yung ugali,” she warns.

Wanting to spare them from the heartache she herself experienced, Sunshine stresses the importance of open communication between them. “So sabi ko lang sa kanila, always listen to mom, be open, so that I know what to advise. Kasi if you hide things from me, and you will tell your friends lang, di natin alam kung ano ibibigay nilang advice.”
“Of course, ayoko din na magiging gano’n yung relationship niyo with your future partner,” Sunshine recalls telling them, “So sabihin niyo lang sa akin.”
