7 Local TV Shows that are Kid-Friendly and Educational

When we think about local educational TV programs for children, Batibot is still the show that comes to mind. Sadly it is no longer running (they developed a Batibot app instead!)

Recently, Anak TV, a non-profit organization that recognizes child-friendly shows, gave its seal to 123 shows that were shown in 2015. Click Start Gallery to find 7 that are still on-air plus when and where you can watch them with your kids!

This is a show about science and the environment hosted by Kim Atienza, one of the Anak TV 2015 Hall of Fame awardees.

Hi-5 (Filipino)

Hi-5 (Filipino)

Weekdays at 8:30am and weekends at 9:30am on TV-5
You are probably familiar with the English version of Hi-5, which airs on Disney Junior. This is TV5's local version, complete with fun song numbers. The Filipino cast consists of Fred, Rissey, Aira, Alex and Gerard. "Halina't magsaya tayo ay sama-sama, hi-5!"

i-Bilib

Sundays 9:35am on GMA or watch online
It is an "infotainment" (information + entertainment) program that explores scientific facts and theories. You and your child can even try the experiments they conduct at home - instructions are posted on its web page after each episode. It is hosted by Chris Tiu.

Sundays at 7pm on ABS-CBN or watch online
According to its web page, this show as a combination of "good moral values, children and magic." It has proudly been around for 10 years, using magical stories to teach kids important values and lessons!

In this kid-friendly educational show, host Drew Arellano shares facts and trivia.

KNC Show

KNC Show

Weekdays at 5pm and weekends at 8am on UNTV or watch online
KNC stands for Kawan ng Cordero (flock of lambs). Its web page states that "it covers informative topics such as natural wonders; creative hobbies and news articles for kids." It also has a Biblical perspective.

Klasrum

Klasrum

Sundays at 10:30am on UNTV or watch online
This one is for teenagers. According to its web page, "Klasrum: Ibang Klase ‘To is a youth-oriented show that equips teens with information and skills they need to survive high school and puberty. To help unlock each child’s full potential the show covers academics, personality development and social responsibility."
