9 Ways To Raise Eco-Loving Children

9 Ways To Raise Eco-Loving Children

Do you want to raise eco-loving children? Here are 9 ways to do it.

The world’s ecosystem, as we know it, is being challenged by the effects of globalization.

There has been a major increase of gas emission from transportations travelling in and around the world at an increasing and continuous pace, which has led to the depletion of the ozone layer.

There has been a major increase in chemical waste from industrial production of consumer goods, which leaks into our oceans and kills many underwater organisms.

It is therefore our innate calling to recognize the true value of Mother Nature and pay respect to the bounties she has nourished us with even in our small helpful ways, starting from home.

As parents of a breed of “highly-advanced technology experts,” which is most likely inclined as “reawakened nature caregivers”, it is essential, as it is inspiring, to impart the value of preserving the environment into our children’s daily lives.

How then do we raise eco-loving children?

1. Introduce them to a fun bath in the tub or a bucket with a simple song on water conservation.

2. Encourage them to turn off the water faucet when not in use.

3. Guide them to switch off the light when necessary.

4. Use reusable containers at all times, at home and outside. You may raise this awareness in them through photos of water bottles floating along rivers or piling up in waste dumps.

5. Teach them to reduce waste by reminding them to minimize the usage of toilet papers and to write on blank portions of used papers.

6. Take them outdoors to play during a dry and sunny day so they exercise their motor skills, reduce the consumption of electricity, breathe fresh air and absorb healthy sunlight.

7. Engage them to water the plants, plant seeds and hug a tree every day.

8. Use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins.

9. Make a compost bin with them, and then train them to fill it with your food wastes regularly.

There are countless more ways to actively involve your child in caring for the environment.

Just remember the 4 Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle, and applying a rhythm that will condition your child to be eco-loving naturally.
