Cut out sugar for 9 days and have healthier kids

Cut out sugar for 9 days and have healthier kids

Did you know that even if you don't actually put sugar in your food, almost all prepared items come with sugar added? Take a look at what going without sugar or lessening sugar with meals can do for your kids' health.

Do you want your kids to be even healthier?

In a recent study, researchers found that cutting out sugar for nine days from kids’ diet had startling and dramatic effects.

What they did

The study took 43 obese kids, aged eight to 13, and fed them the same food they usually ate, such as hot dogs, pizza, and chips.

But this time, the food the kids ate had low or no sugar variants.

Just after nine days on the new diet, these were the results:

  • blood pressure fell by an average of five points
  • cholesterol fell by 33 points
  • bad cholesterol levels fell by 10 points
  • lower blood sugar levels
  • lower insulin levels

What did the kids have to say?

The surprising benefits didn’t stop there. The children involved in the study said that they felt they had to struggle to finish all the food.

In truth, the researchers were careful to serve them the same amount of calories the kids ate every day!

Other kids also said that they felt less hungry.

What does sugar do to your body?

Processed sugar is very dangerous for anyone, whether they’re young or old. Drinking one bottle of soda a day can increase risk factors for heart disease and diabetes significantly.

You may not realize it, but you and your family consume a lot of processed sugar. You get it from bread, packed cookies, cakes, juice, cereal  and even canned meat.

Keep in mind, though, that research on sugar’s effect on the body can be expanded. Talk to your doctor about any diet concerns you have for you and your family.
