3 min read

Bonding with your mother-in-law is not only a way of being closer with your husband’s family, but it’s also a way for you to show your husband that you want his family to be a part of your family as well.

It can sometimes be difficult to bond with your mother-in-law, but by following these ideas, you and your mother-in-law will be best friends in no time!

1. Get to know her better

Ask her stories about her youth, and about how she took care of her kids when she was younger. It’s a good way of bonding with your mother-in-law, and you’ll also get an insight into her personality.

2. Speak the same language

If your mother-in-law speaks a different language, then you can try and slowly learn the language she speaks so that you can have more things to talk about. She’ll also surely appreciate the gesture.

3. Cook together

All moms have a special recipe that they’re very proud of, and your mother-in-law is no exception. Cooking is a great bonding activity

4. Give them a call

If your mother-in-law lives in another country or lives far from you, then you can bridge the gap by mailing her photos of your family or if they’re active on social media, you can send it through there. If she’s not tech savvy, you call her and share stories about her grandkids.

5. Baby bonding

6. Bond over arts and crafts

You can ask help from your mother-in-law when it comes to decorating your home. You can make it into a project and she could teach you a lot of things when it comes to making your home a better place to live in.

7. Share your interests

Ask her about the things she likes, and share some of the stuff that interests you. Who knows? You might have something in common that you can really bond over.

8. Call her “mom”

It’s one of the easiest things that you can do to get closer with your mother-in-law. It would mean a lot to them if they knew that you thought of them as not just a mother-in-law, but as their mother.

9. Listen to her advice
