EEP! The 5 dirtiest things in your home

EEP! The 5 dirtiest things in your home

There are a few things in your home that you do not realize need cleaning.  They are every day items that usually just pass through our hands without realizing that, oh no, this has passed through my hands when they were dirty, or when you were eating. If you are a parent, then this would be ten fold, because we all know how much our kids tend to bring into the house and how for some reason, they are always dirty, or are able to get themselves really dirty in a short time!

So what would be the 5 dirtiest things in your house? This is by no means exhaustive list but this is may be a start.

  1. TV Remote control:  We do not realize this but the TV remote control is constantly with us while we're at home. It is in our hands, in our kids' hands and sometimes when we have not washed them. Remember that are a lot of little crevices and little spaces in between buttons, so when you are cleaning it make sure that you get those pesky spots! Use a disinfectant wipe or some alcohol on a cloth to clean.
  2. Doorknobs: This is probably one of the most touched surfaces in the whole house. We forget about these, but again, one of those surfaces that need to be cleaning all the time. Make sure that when you're doing your general cleaning that you give these a swipe too!
  3. Your cellphone: Since this accessory is on us and in our hands most than anything else, you will definitely need to regularly clean this. A bit of alcohol or a disinfectant wipe should help do the trick. Do a thorough swipe in the front as well as the back and sides, as you put your phone down on numerous surfaces and never know what's lurking there.
  4. Speaking of electronics, if you work from home, or work on your laptop a lot, and even if you let your child use your laptop, please PLEASE clean your KEYBOARD and track pad. If you have a mouse attached to it, please wipe this down too with disinfectant wipes or a tissue that is wet with alcohol. Once a week wipe down should be ok.
  5. And last but not least, those pillows you love. Since you are a human being you sweat, cry and shed skin. This is just normal, but realize that one of the most absorbent things is a pillow. So just remember all this when you're changing your sheets, and if you can, wash those pillows too!

I hope that you are a little more mindful about some of those surfaces, nooks and crannies in your home that you don't really pay attention to, and remember to clean them every once in a while. Happy cleaning!
