An infant died in a fire in Passi City, Iloilo, after the she was allegedly left alone at home, sleeping in a cradle.
Her grandfather tried to save her
According to the child’s mother, she left her infant, Heart, sleeping in a cradle in their home, while she went to her sister-in-law’s house to wash some dishes. When she came back, she was shocked to find that their house had burned down, and that her infant had died in the fire.
Heart’s grandfather tried to save her, but the flames were too large for him to be able to do anything.
According to reports, the infant received first degree burns on her hands, cheeks, and ears.
The mother might be charged for negligence
The local Bureau of Fire Protection reported that the house was made of flammable materials, which caused it to easily catch fire, and burn down. Passi City Police are still conducting an investigation as to what might have started the fire in the first place.
Meanwhile, the infant’s mother might be charged for negligence if it can be proven that she failed to take care of her infant properly.
