Yesterday (7 September) marked a very special day in young Prince George’s life – it was his first day of school!
Looking cool and calm (and maybe just a tiny bit anxious), the little prince was taken to school by his father and greeted by the very pretty head of Thomas’ Battersea’s lower school, Helen Haslem.
Big smiles from the little Prince!
Mummy Kate Middleton couldn’t make it, probably because she is experiencing severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum) in the early stages of her third pregnancy.
A source reportedly said: “She [Kate Middleton] would have done anything to be here. It’s a big day in her son’s life but she really has been very sick.”
Holding his dad’s hand, and wearing his navy blue uniform, the four-year-old prince made his way into his new school, and shook hands with Ms Haslam, before going inside.
A name tag on his schoolbag revealed that he will be known as George Cambridge by classmates. He is believed to be one of the youngest in his new class.
The late Princess Diana with Prince Harry and Prince William on their first day of school
Prince William is quoted to have said about little George’s first day that, “It went well. There was one other parent who had more of an issue with their children so I was quite pleased I wasn’t the one.”
According to reports, over 500 classmates aged between four and 13 were taken into the school by 8.35am to make sure the entrance to the school was clear for the little prince’s arrival.
The prince’s new school has been described as “a big, busy, slightly chaotic school for cosmopolitan parents who want their children to have the best English education money can buy.” Fees here cost around £17,604 (US$23,000) a year.
We wish Prince George all the best as he embarks on this new life adventure!
