5 Simple signs tough times will make your marriage stronger

Rough patches in marriage are expected, but rest assured that your marriage will survive by paying attention to these simple signs

During tough times, it’s natural to feel frustrated and even hopeless, but the darkest days can bring you closer. Ask any couple who’ve been married for quite some time, and they’ll surely agree that the ugly, unpleasant experiences often bring about the most beautiful qualities in marriage. Truly, love only deepens when it overcomes trials. Are you right in thick of the rough patches in marriage? Here are some simple signs to pay attention to, which will hopefully make this difficult point in your relationship a bit easier.

1. The difficulties are just based on circumstance

Your marriage is truly rock solid if conflicts don’t arise because of your spouse’s personality or behavior, but because of the circumstances you’ve been thrust into. For instance, if you’re struggling financially, try to remember that the situation is the problem and not your spouse, who’s most likely working hard to help you get out of financial troubles. Look past your squabbles and appreciate that you have someone to face life’s challenges with.

2. During tough times, there is still love, trust, and respect

Even during the most confusing and difficult points of marriage, there is still that feeling of security in knowing that your partner is the one you want by your side for the long haul. Having love, trust, in respect during the darkest times is one of the sure signs that you can weather any storm.

3. Your family and friends still believe in you

Having a community who knows you as a couple and wants what’s best for you is important. They give you strength and they can also help guide you when making tough decisions. Do those closest to you believe you both can overcome the rough patches? Then it’s a sign that you two are capable of overcoming life’s trials.

4. You’re both willing to try to make it work

Knowing all the signs won’t help if you’re alone in the fight. If your partner remains committed to making things work, then it’s a sure sign you can move past whatever hurdles you are currently facing. Making a marriage work requires the effort of two, committed individuals and saving it does so, too.

5. The good outweighs the bad

At the end of the day, who do you want by your side? Through all of life’s difficulties, does your love still make you look forward to waking up each day? If the bad parts pale in comparison to the good times then you know you’ll surely make it. Press on; work through it together. The time will come when you’ll look back and see that it’s truly worth the struggle and sacrifice.

We’re certain there are more signs a marriage can survive anything, but hopefully these tips have helped enlighten you and somehow inspire you to keep believing that love is always worth it!
