Just like any kid who is sick, Kryz went on to share that during the first moments of Scott’s fever, Scott will just stay in bed, completely not his active, happy self. He only wants Kryz and Yaya Jera around and also wants to be carried all the time.
Kryz says, “He’s such a happy, active kid and suddenly he’s not so active anymore.”

When Kryz first found out that Scott has a fever, they immediately consulted their doctors and scheduled tests for Scott and the rest of the household. Scott Young had to take the BioFire PCR test which they took in a drive-thru hospital. The test cost PHP 10, 000 and was meant to test not just Covid-19 but also other viruses that may have infected Scotty.

Scott also took a CBC test to determine if it was Dengue, in case he tests negative for coronavirus.
The whole process took a toll on the eventful and stressful day of the Young family as Kryz shared how the representative from the testing company had so many mishaps upon administering the test.
Kryz shares that while she refrains from ranting so much even with these kinds of things, it was different and difficult to see Scott go through such a traumatic experience of being held for his blood to be taken.
She says that it had to be 3 tries until the test was completed. Afterward, Scott also needed to take a urinalysis but the healthcare worker failed to bring the proper container for the test.
With the situation being so stressful, the experience also became more aggravating for Kryz and her family. She mentioned how she and her husband Slater usually never get mad but it was different with the recent event pertaining to the shortcomings of the healthcare worker. This, in addition to refusing to take constructive criticism over the mishaps that had happened.

Not long after the CBC testing, Kryz revealed that the BioFire test results came in which confirmed that Scott Young was indeed positive for Covid-19.
While Scott’s fever has subsided and he’s beginning to be his active self again, the family chose to continue wearing a mask, isolating, and doing precautionary measures just to make sure that no one else gets infected anymore.
Scott’s pediatrician has also checked him while they were in the drive-thru testing area and has ruled that Scott won’t be needing any more tests.

What to do if you’re treating Covid-19 at home
The Young family’s experience just shows that no matter careful and protected you think you and your family are, there’s still no such thing as being too careful.
Even with Covid-19 precautionary measures strictly followed, it is still important to know the basics of dealing with Covid-19 in case it affects your family.
If you start manifesting symptoms of Covid-19, better protect the rest of your family by doing the following initial procedures at home.
1. Get tested
Contact your doctor or local health unit and have a test scheduled to confirm the symptoms you are experiencing. Make sure to note all symptoms and inform your doctor accordingly.
2. Isolate yourself and wear a mask
Continue wearing a mask and immediately isolate yourself from the rest of your family once you start experiencing symptoms.
3. Disinfect your home
Do quick disinfection of all the surfaces in your house that you might have come in contact with. Let the rest of the family wear face masks too and continue practicing minimum health standards such as washing your hands regularly and practicing social distancing.
Dishes, drinking glasses, cups, dining utensils, towels, and beds should not be shared with other people in your home. After each use, wash these items completely with soap and water or place them in the dishwasher.
Lastly, open windows, use air filters, and turn on fans in your home to remove COVID-19 viral particles from the air.
4. Monitor your symptoms
Take some rest and get hydrated. If your symptoms seem to worsen, consult your doctor for any OTC meds that you can take or if you need to go to the hospital for further medical attention.
5. Seek emergency medical attention when symptoms worsen
Stay alert for COVID-19 emergency warning symptoms. If you see any of these symptoms, get emergency medical attention right away:
- Having trouble breathing
- New confusion
- Persistent pain in the chest
- Inability to stay awake
- Pale or blue-colored lips, skin, and nails
