With a limited run from November 29 to December 15 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza, this exciting production shines the spotlight on the most beloved Christmas songs of the “King of Christmas Music” himself, Jose Mari Chan.
Paskong Pinoy: A Jukebox Musical for the Whole Family
With a unique concept as REP’s first-ever original jukebox musical, Going Home to Christmas features 22 timeless hits from Jose Mari Chan, including his iconic songs Christmas in Our Hearts and A Perfect Christmas, which have been specially rearranged by renowned musical director Ejay Yatco. Under the direction of REP Artistic Director Jeremy Domingo, this production brings these beloved tunes to life while telling heartfelt stories of homecoming during the Christmas season.
Through the stories of various characters—ranging from a couple on their second honeymoon, to best friends navigating heartbreak, to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) returning to be with their families—Going Home to Christmas captures the essence of Paskong Pinoy, focusing on family, love, and the warmth of Filipino traditions. The musical explores the journey of these characters as they make their way home for the holidays, reminding everyone of the true spirit of Christmas: the love and togetherness that brings us all back home.
A Cast and Production Team That’s Ready to Warm Your Hearts
The musical features a talented ensemble of actors who will bring the story to life with their performances. Leading the cast are some of the most respected names in local theater, including Carla Guevara-Laforteza (Pat), Lorenz Martinez (Arnie), Noel Rayos (Richard), Neomi Gonzales (Josie), Floyd Tena (JR), and many more. They are joined by a talented group of theater artists who add depth and color to the production, creating a show that’s sure to tug at the heartstrings of Filipino audiences.
Directed by Jeremy Domingo, with a script written by REP veterans Luna Griño-Inocian, Robbie Guevara, and Joel Trinidad, Going Home to Christmas offers a fresh take on Jose Mari Chan’s classic Christmas songs while adding new layers of meaning and emotion. The entire production is made even more magical by the creative contributions of choreographer Franco Ramos, set designer Ohm David, costume designer Hershee Tantiado, and lighting and sound designers Meliton Roxas Jr. and Aji Manalo.
A Filipino Christmas Experience Like No Other
“Every Filipino knows that once September hits, Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas in Our Hearts is on repeat everywhere,” says REP Artistic Director Jeremy Domingo. “It’s an honor for us to bring his music to the stage in a way that resonates deeply with Filipino families. We hope Going Home to Christmas will bring joy, laughter, and nostalgia to everyone who loves Christmas as much as we do.”
Jose Mari Chan himself expressed his gratitude for the production, sharing, “I’m honored that REP chose my music as the inspiration for this holiday show.
